“TABS” mid-semester course evaluation offered: The Program for Instructional Innovation (PII) offers teaching faculty at OU a free mid-semester course evaluation called “TABS.” With a mid-semester course evaluation, professors have the opportunity to alter teaching strategies based on student feedback. They provide an answer sheet and question sheet for each student as well as instructions. If you want to administer TABS this semester, contact the PII office at pii@ou.edu or 325-2323.

Early Progress Grade Reports: Due Monday, February 25^th (even if no grades are marked). Please return the “signed” form to me by 3pm next Monday--I will be making my last delivery to Academic Records.

Class Roll: Instructors should make the changes on the form that was distributed last week and return it to Academic Records, BH 330. All students attending class must be officially enrolled. Class attendance without enrollment is PROHIBITED by State Regents’ policy. Any student whose name does not appear on the class roll should consult immediately with the Office of Registration in BH 2^nd floor.

Graduate Students: The Department Admission/Retention Committee will be distributing the Annual Evaluation Questionnaire next week. Again, if you were instructed by the Committee last year to fulfill an obligation, now is the time to take care of it. Evaluation Interviews will be held just BEFORE Spring Break, so if you haven’t fulfilled their recommendation you can be sure they will be wanting to see you!

Thesis/Dissertation Deposits: Extensions to deposit (due to recent ice storm) will be dealt with on a case by case basis through petitioning the Graduate College. Deposit is due Friday, December 14.

Deliveries & Package Pick-up: As we get into the holiday season, some of us are asking for leave time and this may create the office being closed early if someone cannot be here to tend to packages (especially Fridays). Please try hard to get all your deliveries in/out before Friday mornings if possible; otherwise, you may have to stay to follow though or wait until the next business day. Weather may also be a factor, so please plan accordingly.

Compliance and Training Required by State and Federal Law

University of Oklahoma (OU) Norman campus faculty and staff who store or use chemicals in their laboratories must comply with both state and federal laboratory safety and hazardous materials rules and regulations, including mandatory training.

OU’s Environmental Health & Safety Office (EHSO) offers two programs to assist employees. The Hazard Communication Program applies to all employees who may, during the course of their employment, be exposed under normal conditions of work or in a reasonable foreseeable emergency to hazardous chemicals, materials and/or conditions. This training can be completed online, where program applicability is further discussed, by visiting the EHSO website at: http://www.ou.edu/ehso/training.html.

The Laboratory Safety Program applies to all employees engaged in the laboratory use of hazardous chemicals. These employees should complete annual Laboratory Safety training by visiting the EHSO website at:
