Title: “Effects of Oxychlorine and Peroxy Compounds against Desulfovibrio species”

Department Holiday Party: Friday, December 14, 8am – 3:30p in the department main office. Dr. Uno will provide a selection of deli meats, cheeses, and bread for sandwiches. We welcome any contributions to our “Come & Go” feast including breakfast items, salads, sweets, or side dishes. As usual when we have a get-together reception or party, the University policy states that we must have a sign-up sheet of attendees, so please do not feel offended if we ask for your signature!
Homework projects: Projects/papers due in department mailboxes should be collected by the instructor by 3pm on the due date. This will let you know that any projects turned in after 3pm were submitted late. Please announce to your class that the secretaries will not indicate on their paper the date & time when the projects were turned in. A Big “Thank You” for your cooperation!
Secure your valuable: Please secure your valuables, lock all doors when you leave an empty room, and report any suspicious behavior or individuals in the building.
Graduate Student Evaluation Follow-up: In reference to last Spring 2007 Annual graduate student evaluation, if the Retention Committee advised you to fulfill certain obligations by a certain deadline, you need to take care of it as quickly as possible.
Football Game: Oklahoma plays No. 1 Missouri Saturday in San Antonio for Big 12 title. The game will be this Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Alamodome - San Antonio, Texas. Kick-off is at 7pm and will be televised on ABC.

Compliance and Training Required by State and Federal Law
University of Oklahoma (OU) Norman campus faculty and staff who store or use chemicals in their laboratories must comply with both state and federal laboratory safety and hazardous materials rules and regulations, including mandatory training.
OU’s Environmental Health & Safety Office (EHSO) offers two programs to assist employees. The Hazard Communication Program applies to all employees who may, during the course of their employment, be exposed under normal conditions of work or in a reasonable foreseeable emergency to hazardous chemicals, materials and/or conditions. This training can be completed online, where program applicability is further discussed, by visiting the EHSO website at: http://www.ou.edu/ehso/training.html.
The Laboratory Safety Program applies to all employees engaged in the laboratory use of hazardous chemicals. These employees should complete annual Laboratory Safety training by visiting the EHSO website at:
http://www.ou.edu/ehso/training.html.
Required training should be completed by December 31, 2007. Any questions should be directed to the OU NC EHSO Officer, Trent Brown at 325-5147 or tbrown@ou.edu.
